Printing QR Code Login Badge for K-5 and Secondary Sped Students
Purpose: Explain how elementary and secondary Sped staff can print sign-in badges for students from either PowerSchool Admin or PowerTeacher.
Directions
Logging in with a QR Code badge is available for Chromebook style laptops for Kindergarten through 5th grade and secondary Sped students. When powering on a Chromebook, you’ll be taken to a login screen where the camera is enabled. Students will simply hold the QR Code badge up to the camera and they will automatically be logging into the computer. You can generate QR Code Badges from PowerSchool using the below methods.
Generate a QR Code Badge for all K-5 or secondary Sped students in your building.
The QR Code badges are formatted in a standard 3.375" x 2.125" size and fit great into an inexpensive clear plastic badge holder to protect it throughout the school year.
PowerSchool Admin (View Only Users)
Staff with View Only access to PowerSchool Administrator can still print QR Code Badges one student at a time.
Navigate to the student's record that you would like to print a QR Code Badge for. On the left menu, select More, then select Generate QR Badge.

A new browser tab will open with the single QR Badge. Use the browser's Print function to print the badge.

Saving Passwords when Using Badges
QR Code Badges make it easy for students to sign in to their Chromebook or Windows computer without typing their username and password. However, once signed in, applications inside MyApps (such as Word, Teams, Powerpoint, or other learning platforms) usually require a separate sign-in using Microsoft—this means the student’s district email address and password.
To save time, students can use the Password Manager built into their web browser. The Password Manager securely stores login information and automatically fills it in later. This means students won’t need to retype their email and password each time they open an app.
How it works:
-
The first time a student logs into an app and enters their email and password, the browser will display a prompt such as “Save password?”
-
The next time the student visits that app or website, the browser will automatically fill in the stored credentials.
